SerranoJames B. Conant High SchoolSamantha has taught AP%u00ae Human Geography at James B. Conant High School since 2006. She has attended the AP%u00ae Reading since 2012 and has served as a Table Leader since 2020. Samantha was named an Association of American Geographers (AAG) Teacher%u2019s Fellow in 2018 and is a National Geographiccertified educator. Samantha has a master%u2019s degree ingeography and environmental studies and is working on a PhD in geography education. She is active in the online AP%u00ae Human Geography professional learning community and serves on the board of directors for the National Council for Geographic Education.Kelly SwansonMount Paran Christian SchoolKelly completed his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, with an emphasis on geography assessment, and has been involved in geography education for over 30 years, including teaching his first AP%u00ae Human Geography course in 1997. He has authored the Kaplan AP%u00ae Human Geography Guide from 2008 to 2018 and the Teacher%u2019s Edition for Bedford, Freeman & Worth%u2019s Human Geography for the AP%u00ae Course. He assisted in rewriting the Minnesota State Geography Standards in 2012, advised the committee in 2022, and has served on the National Assessment in Educational Progress (NAEP) Geography standing committee with the U.S. Department of Education. He currently teaches university courses at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul and serves as Dean of Academics at Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw, Georgia. She is a 2017 recipient of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship, which gave her the opportunity to pursue and complete a second master%u2019s degree in history at La Salle University in 2020.
